Before i set out this weekend to view 1 or 2 A2 cars i wondered what i can expect to find under the bonnet regarding accessibility.I usually like to change oil, filters, spark plugs(Glow plugs)and carry out basic maintenance tasks etc.

Are things fairly straight foward or are access points well hidden?

Hello Marts,

You'll find everything pretty straight-forward really, the reports of the A2 being pretty much sealed under the bonnet were just press stories that are best ignored.

True, the air filter is a ramp/axel stand job, unlike most, but everything else is fairly standard. The A2 even scores over a few other VAG cars in that it doesn't have a stupid engine cover which has to be removed before any work can be carried out. There is a small fibre cover on the diesels, but that's it.

With diesel service intervals up to 30k miles though, you may find trips under the bonnet to be few and far between!

Cheers,

Mike

If you lift the bonnet off - not alot! The air filter is infront of the drivers side wheel arch (low down) and the oil and screenwash fillers behind the flip-down grille, - but the fuel/oil filters are in their 'normal' places!

Best of luck and welcome :)
