What operates the boot light?

As above, don't think i've ever noticed my boot light working. Whilst the car in bits, checked bulb and lots of corrosion. New bulb, clean up and test on battery, all working. Fit to car and nothing. Interior lights work on door open. Should it be just opening the boot? DIS indicates the boot is open, but no light. Tried with lights on, like glove box, nothing.

What am I missing?

Are you talking bulbs or led here? Bulb does not care about polarity leds pout more than a 2 year old with no ice cream. CCCU supplies the power for the boot lights, with boot open signal and turns on boot light and DIS. Ignition and external lights have no effect on the boot light. So more corrosion, broken wire or reversed polarity.

Evening,

No electrical expert here but when I recently had bolt light issues, mine was constantly on. That was with the boot open/closed, car locked/unlocked and all other possible eventualities. In the end I just removed the bulb.

What I do know though is that it was a CCU fault and the boot light work correctly once I replaced the CCCU.

If your DIS is showing the boot open you can be sure that it is probably fine. As you said the wires were corroded, perhaps the corrosion has gone further than you can see (down the rubber sheathing).

Perhaps trying to test the voltage further down the harness might prove what has happened.

Hope you get it sorted soonest.

Kind regards,

Tom

Part of the answer I was looking for. Have not changed to led's yet, just wanted to ensure standard system working correctly.

There is also a timer on the boot light where it is switched off after about 5 minutes without the boot being closed again. Perhaps you had exceeded the timer when you tried the bulb?

Something else to be aware of, thanks. Have spare ccu's I can check against.
