What's this on the dash?

I think it MIGHT be do-able! Things can be re-routed. Vents can be changed (or blanked-off) I feel that if I really had to, I could use that item? I DO have a complete spare double DIN dash to experiment on! Just need the time, that's all! I'm going to look at the dash, tonight, to see what could be done .... I think that I'd need narrower centre air-vents .... from another model? There are a couple of ideas that have already come into my head .... The air-ducts under the dash could be completely re-designed into flexible tubes and routed anywhere. I also wonder if a complete spare RNS-E screen unit could work via suitable cabling up in that position? I've already mounted a sat-nav, there.

If I only was a handy man... would you consider recording your work on dashboard and edit a simple video tutorial for youtub? It would be sooo helpful, given Audi A2 are on the verge to become rare classics ... please think about it! Thank you

Thank you! That is absolutely brilliant! I have never seen this article (obviously) and yet there are all the steps that I had in mind and outlined earlier in this thread! I think that even with a slight rise to the dash profile, it still looks quite effective and is a very useful feature! The article didn't translate into English and more photos would have been useful (like how the lid is attached/compartment design). I wonder if there ARE more details, somewhere?) Did you notice that it is copyrighted? Anyway .... I think that I'll be going for it .... another one for the list! LOL! I wonder if that VW part (the dash "tray") is only available in black?

Please do post how to thread with pics it would be an interesting project, I did cime across a thread on here a week ago where there were pics of a completed job butno idea who posted it but it must still be there (in English).
