When does an “economical” commuter become a project??

I'm conscious this thread hasn't had much of an update for a while.
My A2 has recently had a power steering rack replaced and has a pile of parts for the front suspension to be tackled.
It has however taken a step back from daily duties with my daily commute so there is less pressure to get it done.
The MOT runs out this week so may sorn it for a while before it gets a set of L plates for my daughter In January.
Daily driving is now with the Tesla and though I feel a bit of a sell out, the autopilot certainly makes life on Edinburgh City Bypass much more bearable.
Hopefully some suspension posts coming soon.

It's been a while since this non project thread had an update.
My A2 MOT expired in October and it has sat outside unloved.
With my daughter 6 weeks away from turning 17 it's time to get moving.
So front shocks, springs top mou t bearings and drop links are getting fitted along with a new rear caliper. Annoyingly one that was changed a year ago but the handbrake doesn't return. Buy cheap buy twice.
I put in a new battery today as the old one had gone completely flat. U sure if there is something causing the a drain or just a symptom of my neglect.

Hmm I installed very cheap rear callipers on mine earlier this year due to a persistent dragging handbrake! Hopefully I get better luck...

Front suspension, drop links, brake hoses and rear caliper replaced.
The Ridex caliper allows the handbrake to release where the non brand version wouldn't. Lesson learned.
Last challenge is getting the clutch bled on my quest to replace the fluid.

This was the state of the front brake line. The other side was not as bad but similar. Really easy job to change them so I wouldn't put it off if you find something similar.

Holy Smokes! Yeah good call. 👍 how long did it take to get drivers side strut out when you went to bilstein?

Edd! I'm trying to erase it from my memory.
It was probably about 2 hours to get it but over two days. I started, got annoyed then went back to it.
The most useful tools were a 13mm rachet spanner and 3/8 drive semi deep 13mm socket which had just enough height to clear the plastic dome but still get the rachet in place.
It went together really easy. I was amazed.
