Topping up the aircon? Yourself? Do you have the machine that does that job for you?

You cannot simply add some fluid to the system. The system is vacumated (is that a correct English word?). The fluid that is in the system must be taken out. You need a special machine to do the job. Than the machine vacumates and fill the system with new coldfluid (530) and oil (10).

The filling points are on the aluminium tubes of the aircon system.

pour a slush puppie into the heater vents!

in the words of a famous little britain character...
"yeah I know"
so does anyone know where it is so i dont get the wrong one...

Surprisingly you can top up lots of systems now with "one shot" Artic Freeze. Lots of places that don't invest in £1000's systems use them to top up customers cars.

It should be the pipe with the black cap but please don't quote me on this, as this is the indicator of the low pressure side.

Ref the attached pic, there is a large and small bore alloy pipe next to the coolant expansion tank. The large bore one is on the low pressure side and the small one, the high pressure side. The caps on each pipe are the service connection points for the aircon system. This looks like a LHD engine bay but the layout of the aircon pipes is similar.
