Anybody know a good supplier of genuine audi parts excluding vagparts? Every time i go to an audi dealer they claim not to sell parts im after, have computer failure and never ring back when they say they will.

You can always ask me Alex.

If a part is available, I'll be able to give you a price for it and get hold of it too, or give you the information to be able to get it yourself.

Cheers,

Mike

Sorry to hijack thread, but Mike could you tell me the part number for the ashtray illumination including bulb holder etc...as its completely missing from the connector on the harness, also the little clips that keep the tray in below the climate control. As my dealer says that nothing is listed, as my cigarette lighter is by the handbrake.

What do you mean by illumination Alan? Do you need the full ashtray or is it just the bulb or bulb, holder and wiring?

Also, the clips you mean, are they the little golden coloured ones at either side of the tray?

Cheers,

Mike

Forget my last questions Alan, neither bits are available separately!

The clips are only available with the tray, which costs £22 and the ashtray is only available as a complete unit at £53.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Cheers,

Mike

Mike,
I checked the parts book and it looked to me like there are no spare parts listed for the ashtray. Its possible it comes as a complete assy with a LED and wiring attached.
As Alan's dealer indicated the illustrations don't cover the cig lighter in the centre console, even though the picture of the console shows the lighter mounting hole.
I even looked at the photos of my car's interior when I had the dash out but could not see (or remember) the detail of the ashtray light wiring or connection to the main loom.

Cheers Spike

Alan, you're probably better off getting the parts from salvage, as they'll be quite cheap I would have thought.

Spike, the ashtray is covered in detail; take a look at illustrations 857-00 and 857-30. Yes, I know that there are differences between the drawings and actuality, but they show all the relevant parts that are replaceable. Obviously the lights and clips are not shown as they are integral parts.

The wiring of the lights is via a small 2-pin connector that attaches to a clip on the back of the ashtray.

Cheers,

Mike
