Where to start?

So I’m looking for a petrol A2, I’m not in a hurry and am happy to either wait/look for the right one. However, I don’t want to set out on a hunt for a unicorn that I’ll never find.

So, I’m appealing to the hive mind for search criteria. I need to understand what things can be realistically retrofitted and what can’t.

Also, I’d really like the 4 seat version for its versatility but could compromise. For seating 4 adults is there a significant difference in comfort between 4 and 5 seat versions?

Is there a significant difference between SE and Sport models? If so what?

Essential:
Petrol. Still open to persuasion as to the 1.4 or 1.6.
Climate
Double Din
Heated seats
Electric windows x 4
Leather or Alcantra/leather
False floor
4 seat version
Headlight wash
Heated mirrors
OSS is probably a nice to have now I understand I can fit a roof rack

What headlight options were available from new?

Colours:

I would ideally prefer either pine green, castle red, cobalt or Jaipur but understand they’re less common than say silver.

I presume that maintenance/history is more important than mileage/age.

Finally, any guidance on pricing would be appreciated as they seem to vary wildly.

Thanks for your patience with dumb newb.

Look on the Market. @Fallan has one for sale with most of that spec except the OSS. The rest can be retrofitted. (If you can't see the market in the top menu you need to upgrade your sccount, it only costs £2. I'm sure a quick PM to express interest would get you some details in the meantime though.) Good luck!

Take headlight wash off your ‘essentials’ list unless prepared for a long wait.
£2k should find you a nice high spec car - possibly less.
Someone on here bought an FSI last week with just about every option for under £1k !!!
But they were very quick and the dealer was not clued up on A2’s!

Thanks for the mention Proghound.

I also echo the above, you’re essentials list will no doubt discount 99% of vehicles that come up for sale.

I’m selling mine at present which in my eyes is very competitively priced considering the spec but isn’t without the usual bits of TLC that can be required on 17/18yr old cars then again it doesn’t have a £5k price tag either.

I’m asking £1500 for it, spec as follows;

BOSE sound system (which really does sound amazing for the age of car)
RNSD Navigation/TV/Phone etc with 5.5” LCD
Heated Seats
Sports Nappa Leather Seats (still nice and supple)
Multifunction steering wheel
Cruise Control
DIS computer (incorporates nav aid)
Acoustic rear parking sensors
Sideguard airbags
False floor kit plus full toolkit under driver floor
6CD changer in boot side trim
Double DIN centre tray
Auto-dimming rear view mirror
Winter pack (Heated Mirrors + Washer Jets)
Factory fitted carpet mats (apart from drivers) in excellent condition

Pictures and further info are in my for sale thread posted yesterday.

Many thanks

Thanks, I had been looking at yours. It does tick almost all my boxes except colour and OSS. I’ll ping you a msg.

That is one nice specification car.

If I didn't have two A2,s already (and one wife) I'd buy it!
