I have seen a few audi diagnostics software on ebay and wondered whether there any good? I understand the OBD2 cable is around £20? is that correct? Is it worth the bother?

I would be nice to be sure of faults and niggles before it goes to a dealer for repairs and service.

Any thoughts?

I have found my vagcom software invaluable and got a lead off ebay for £18 a couple of years ago. Software id free to download. see ross-tech.com for info. Also Skipon01 has some great manuals on CD for sale and they are essential ( IMHO ).

Cheers

Be very carful over which cable you buy - not all of the cheap ones will work well, if at all, some needing very specific versions of the software.

If you want full functionality and back-up from the software authors, get the 'proper' cable. Yes, it costs nearly £300, but it does do everything that your dealer does (apart from being able to hook up to the German mainframe computer) and is firmware upgradeable too.

Cheers,

Mike

Thanks for the info guys, and per chance where would one purchase such an expensive lead?:D

I guessing not all leads send info back and forth across the lead?

I`m sure my local dealer`s not gonna let me buy one hehe?

Thats great spike, checked out gendan seems they have a lead for all budgets, i will get one on payday i think.

Hey uNco was you in Nottingham about couple months back? I think I spotted your car or similar (pine green wit black alloys + loud music), looked pretty tasty and stood out from the other cars whilst stuck in traffic. :)

It may well of been the car but not me driving. We got the car a few months back and you guessed it from nottingham. We took it i little further south to leicester.

By the the suspcious burn mark on the rear passenger seat i`d say some narcotics have been smoked and some drum `n bass layed down in the back.:) :)
