Chat Who has bought the worst A2? EVER...

I think from the tale as told, legality doesn't enter into it. The trader obviously isn't kosher.
He didn't give me an invoice, the delivery driver just winched it off and said paperwork is in the glovebox and left. I couldn't start it so by the time I had pushed it on to my drive it was too late.

sounds very dodgy when you list the red flags here. could all be coincidental, of course (clutching here!)

heres hoping you get some sort of retribution
Thanks. I should have known 'as they say too good to be true usually is'
I only paid £595+ £100 to deliver it so at least it isn't a Kings ransom but still annoying knowing that you have been suckered

I hope you get a settlement on this! Makes my “heated mirror” with no glass from MOTOR SALVAGE DIRECT IN Wisbech seem minor

Did you carry out a car check on this before you bought it?
In the cars defence, It doesn't take much to write off any car now especially an aluminium bodied 20 year old car. The owners, (22) is a bit much but i once bought a 4 year old car with 5 previous owners (3 from same family though). As long as the car is complete and is a runner and you are happy with the price you paid who really cares.
There are only a handful of A2s' out there that are going to be highly collectable in the future, and they are squirrelled away somewhere in a high security oxygen tent prison, only to be pushed out for special occasions.
Most of us who buy these fun, frugal and very well built funky cars actually drive them, and it looks like you have a nice colour to start with.
The pictures don't show much damage with nice even shut lines and no nasty bodywork dents.
Remember, when life gives you lemons make lemonade.
Engine upgrade, long term project or just a reliable runabout (FSI??) either way the car is a survivor, If you decide to keep it.
I'll go with that, any A2 regardless of condition has the potential to be a swan from an ugly duckling.

I think at that price range you are going to have real difficulties taking it any further. It all depends on how the car was advertised. Was it advertised as being a good runner? The problem is it cost little more than scrap value, so even if you went through the small claims court the likelyhood is that the expectation from a Judge would be that its condition was commensurate with its age and price.

The fact that you bought it without seeing it and had it delivered will give you a little more protection.

If it has been misrepresented and does not come with the correct log book I’d think the small claims would be the way to go.

I think it may be good money after bad. The OP may very easily get a Judgement in default against the seller, but actually getting the money back will be whole different ball game if they are that slippery.

Was the transaction done using a credit or debit card? If so contact them and explain about distance selling and you did not get what you though you bought and paid for.

Defo good money after bad as Steve says. The big problem is not knowing from whom you've bought it, nor having an invoice. Therefore no title.

Not helped by no registration details. Even if you could find the "little ray of sunshine" from whom you purchased it, he would just say he'd sold as spares or repairs or scrap.

If you go into the MOT History, it talks of it being grey. Personally speaking, I wouldn't touch it with a thirty foot bargepole, end wrapped in lint and dipped in dettol! Just a personal view.

Hi.
Hope u really get a satisfactory outcome from this and the dodgy seller gets what he deserves(why don't dodgy sellers just stick to selling ford's). Anyway I know your probably waiting on police info but I would further check the chassis number and engine number against the car check details. And if it has the original car options sticker, decode it and check what it should have. Are there any signs of original colour on car?
Best of luck

What colour is the car it looks grey in the pictures,
Mot history for RV03 TZU shows it to be green
It is Dolphin Grey and apart from the number plate panel which looks like it was Blue originally I can't see any paintwork.
Again that is what concerns me as HPI say it had a colour change and I don't think this car has.

I think the front wings around the headlights are full of filler.
The bonnet has a a dent on the front and is missing the bonnet plastic cover.
Drivers door has a small dent like tennis ball and the edge of the roof has another one.
Interior is very mouldy and the drivers seat has a cigarette burn on it.
Drivers side carpet is threadbare.
Wiper arm needs refurbing.
Alloys need a refurb.
Slow too start but when running engine sounds good.
Headlights are cloudy.
Rear lights seem ok.
Under engine tray is missing.

Thats what I have found so far.

Oh it gets worse. You are closer to @Clackers than you are to me, perhaps it’s time for this one to go to A2 heaven.
I will be considering that when sorted but at the moment I don't know if the car is genuine, I have no V5, no receipt and only 1 key that opens the door and starts it but the fob doesn't work.

I would deffo physically check vin and engine numbers aginst stored info on database for car. The colour change could be a typo error on the log book? I would check the options sticker in the boot of car and see what info that gives, if not there maybe contact Audi for any vehicle info on the car?
