Chat Who has bought the worst A2? EVER...

It is Dolphin Grey and apart from the number plate panel which looks like it was Blue originally I can't see any paintwork.
Again that is what concerns me as HPI say it had a colour change and I don't think this car has.

I think the front wings around the headlights are full of filler.
The bonnet has a a dent on the front and is missing the bonnet plastic cover.
Drivers door has a small dent like tennis ball and the edge of the roof has another one.
Interior is very mouldy and the drivers seat has a cigarette burn on it.
Drivers side carpet is threadbare.
Wiper arm needs refurbing.
Alloys need a refurb.
Slow too start but when running engine sounds good.
Headlights are cloudy.
Rear lights seem ok.
Under engine tray is missing.

Thats what I have found so far.
If you do decide that it is too far gone, I think this beast is more than welcome to have a 'permanent holiday' at mine. Feel free to inbox me if you decide to let 'it' go . I feel your pain. I bought one blind a couple of years back, having been told it was 'nearly finished', the car was an absolute deathtrap, and I'm glad the young lad didn't put it back on the road, he had tried to replace all the suspension himself, with bolts missing, wrong parts, stretched brake pipes, wiring that would make Timmus' toes curl, incorrect steering wheel, wrong wheels, it was horrendous, but he was 17 and had all the best intentions, but by god was it rough....and a tow bar on it too, which was the deal breaker for me, little did he say that it was home made from angle iron and screwed to the crash beam with wood screws...no wonder he couldn't take pictures of it for me!!!! It now lives on in about 20 different locations in the uk!!!

In his defence, they were 4" woodscrews, so a bit stronger than dry lining screws...I only hope he wasn't towing anything larger than a Tonka toy!!!

Update on this thread.

I have a logbook so at least it is mine. Keyfob now works.

As expected dealer not interested and the way UK law now works I understand why he doesn't care.
Police say no crime, ActionFraud say not enough details to take any further, EPA say he isn't a licensed dealer, trader or scrap merchant but say it is up to the local council who weren't interested.
I started a MoneyClaim Online to which he didn't respond to. I requested Judgement on him and the company which has now been issued so gives me some retribution that he now has a CCJ but not sure if it will make much difference to him.

The drivers wing and bumper are filler.
Interior is mouldy (very)
Engine starts and going up and down my drive the clutch and gearbox seem good
Electric windows work
Central locking works
Lights all work
Heater works
Tyres all have slow leaks
Handbrake is non existent
Seats need a real good clean before really knowing the condition of them
Bonnet has dent and missing the cover that go's on top (vent)
Headlights seem intact
Rear lights intact

So far what is missing:

Petrol flap switch
Wiper arm
Under bonnet drain cups
Stereo
1 center cap for the 17" alloys

So now what is a CAT 'C' and 'D', with 22 previous owners, mouldy interior, No MOT worth?

Some pics from earlier today
As we all know pics make it look better than it really is

Sadly not much, but if you decide to move it on s a breaker, I am ready for my next one as of now if needs be, I am only up the road in north wales too.

Learning lessons is all part of lifes rich pageant. At least a lemon is compostible. I would recommend following @Clackers advice and then purchase a car on here where you have a better chance of ending up with something decent.

Sadly, speaking from experience.

Best of luck.

I don't think that it is totally beyond salvation. I found my current driver in a barn, covered in bird crap with mice living in the cabin and under the bonnet. It hadn't moved from that barn in 6 years. If my missus found out how much I've spent on it over the past 18 months I'd be a dead man, but it is roadworthy and reliable now and I use it as a business vehicle. The A2 is a marmite car though and I'm hooked.

As it's an FSI, there's less than 600 left in UK, it's your duty to save it 🤔.
Mac.

Some days I feel like might have done then I came across this thread. So onwards and upwards. Roll on spring.
