Will This Work

Not an expert, but I don't think it is. The switch for the A2 is unique and consists of one unit with both the actual light switch and the dimming / headlight adjuster. I changed mine recently for a brand new one from Audi.

Not faulty just worn and looks rubbish, trying to get all the buttons and switches like new again.

You have two options: either buy the stickers for the fascia, or - unfortunately - buy a new unit which will set you back over £100.

Hello there,

You could also consider the automatic switch with a light sensor that you run up the A Pillar and door trim to hide the cable.

Have a look here (post #4 and scroll down) to see what it looks like after a little fettle:

I've seen those on ebay and I'd rather have the buttons or switches as stickers tend to look cheap and they peel. Thanks for all the info it's much appreciated.

My pleasure, it's actually the first time I can help someone on here - usually it's the other way round :)

@Mka306 you want a project, this would be a great one and pretty straightforward- I still have to fit mine which Tom put together for me. It will look the business when it’s installed

There are at least 2 variants of this switch.
Manual.. settings adjusted by flicking on/off in a specific sequence.
Bluetooth.. download a phone app and set/test/check all lights remote from your phone!

Evening again,

There is no mention of the above eBay listing being the Bluetooth option so best to ask before you spend your money

This is the Bluetooth Option from the same seller that most of us on here used for this upgrade.

Whilst it’s not exactly cheap, it is actually nowhere near the price I have seen factory hard-touch items go for on eBay.

Hope this helps,

If you’re not sure about using the Dremel to fit the new icon ring I can probably help out like I did for David @dj_efk as I think I have a spare headlight switch surround, probably evening for a spare chrome ring to finish it off.

Kind regards,

Tom

I would go for the bluetooth. I have the manual one and I've not got the auto dimming working yet. It's a real fiddle reading the Chinese translation (Steve B did a much better re-translation) but it's still a fiddle to get the settings right e.g. turn from A to B wait 1 second then turn to C count to 10 and turn back to A. - and that's for just 1 setting - you get the idea!

[OK, I own up. Despite being in IT for 50 years I hate and have little patience for these low level programming systems. I bought a burglar alarm and paid extra for an internet interface but when installing I found I had to program all the network stuff using the 0-9 keypad including alphabetic values and 10 deep menu systems whilst trying to beat the clock before it timed out and reset. grrrrrr )
