Window not working.

Hello All,

Just joined the web site and picked up my first A2 this morning. This is also my first proper post..

Murdo’s commentary gives a grand overview of what My A2's like. She really is a wee doll, until…….

I had the car full of passengers coming back from my Cousins 40th… she was steaming up (the fan unit sounds like it’s working but there’s no air pressure coming out of any of the vents – a small fix under warranty hopefully)..so I opened the drivers window, that’s when it all went wrong.

I couldn’t shut it again, the window went bonkers…it’d go half way up and then open all the way down, wouldn’t work at all and then would come up a quarter of the way before going down and staying down….Can you imagine what was going through my head….

holy cow, I’ve only had her 4 hours and already the electric motor for the window has gone.

The wife’s saying I told you not to buy a car 10 years old….you should have bought that Renault I liked…..yea right!!!

Anyway I stopped on the side of the road and asked my Mrs to close the window from the inside while I tried to help it up from the outside….it’s raining, the wife is 8 months pregnant and can’t reach the switch from the passengers seat because of the bump. I’m shouting lean across further - it’ll work…… I can’t reach, she says…yes you can, lean further…. the rains pouring down and I’m getting wet, the drivers seat is getting wet, the wife’s getting wet she starts to puff and pant, I think she’s going into labour, so tell her to take a 30 second break and then try again.….anyway after about 5 mins of this strategy I decided I’d put the wife through enough torture and drove home with the window down…..gutted

Went to see Murdo who says…..I’ve seen this before….but he’s getting old and couldn’t remember the fix….onto the web site and hey presto an injection of silicon spray around the edges was what was needed…..no silicon spray so a temporary fix of some furniture polish into edges has worked a treat, and I thought it was something terminal……thanks Murdo and The Grim Reeper whom posted the fix...

Cheers

Graeme

Thats a great result. I was reading down the post and was thinking oh no:eek:
What could that be.
But thankfully it was a easy fix:D

Good luck with your new car, I am sure your wife will realise that it was better than getting the Renualt:eek:

All the best

David
