Wiper conversion problem?!! Help req'd...

Hi can someone please help me? I've bought the newer floppy style wiper kit from VAG parts (to replace my old style one) and went to fit it, but discovered a major problem. The old wiper arms both had groves notched into their holes to fit onto the motor's spindle, but the new one supplied doesn't have any of these grooves and its holes are smooth. Now surely this is going to cause problems as even if I tighten up the nuts, the wiper arms could slip or damage the spindle and I'd need a whole component for this????

So, can someone who has done this conversion please let me know if this is a problem or if I need to return the parts as they are not fit for purpose:confused:

Thanks in advance,
Gaz

Gaz, don't worry, the spindles are cone shaped, so as you tighten the nut down, it cinches the arm onto the spindles. Also, as there are 2 (only one turns, the other is a pivot), there is absolutely no danger of slippage.

You'd be well advised to put a little grease on the spindles before installing the new arm actually to make removal easier in the future.

Cheers,

Mike

Ah, ok that makes sense - cheers Mike! I'll give it another try over the weekend and see how I get on.
Cheers,
