Hi, iv been driving my sister Audi a2 for a week now and i must say it is a great car i like the fact that its so roomy in side, engine is the same as my polo but the audi is much lighter making it more nimble and quicker.

last week was driving home and the wiper cut out half way up the screen. pulled over and checked fuse and wiper blade. everything seems fine. as i was only a mile from my home decided to carry one with out wipers and have a look at it when i got home. after a minute the wiper moved slightly about 2cm then cut out again. now i have reached home, lifted up the arm and switched on the wiper everything seems fine moves freely until i drop the arm and wiper down. it moves 2cm from the rest position then cuts out.

my brother recons it is the motor and says with load it is sticking or the bushes in the motor are nakerd. is he right in thinking it is this or is it that the linkage is nakerd.

it is the early type of arm not the floppy type.

i have checked the nuts that hold the arms in place.

i have also changed the wiper blade

i have searched for this problem and no result except how to fit floppy wipers and how to fit them

any other suggestion are most welcome as its been of road for a week now and taking up drive way space and i am getting a ear full from the sis.

thanks for your help.

funny this topic jus came up. I took my wifes car out for the first time in the rain and i have wiper problems too. Every so often moving from normal wiper to int. it just cuts out. I try every mode and nothing happens. Give it about 30 sec and i try again everything is fine. But every now and agin when switching to int. It wants to cut out randomly. when i try to use the single wipe that doesnt want to work either. Im seeing skipton tomorrow to sort me out with some spare keys so im hoping he might know what the problem is.
Ill post back once i find out

thanks for your help jlee12. im sure its something silly that i have overlooked.
please keep me posted.

Try a replacement relay - it's stored in the passenger footwell compartment and has 602 written on the top of it (it's a black plug in box).

It's the firt thing I'd check and the relays are not expensive at around £28 inc VAT and is definitely user changeable.

Part number is 4B0 955 531E

Cheers,

Mike
