Wipers stopped working

Hi, my windscreen wipers stopped working. I hoped it was a grounding issue so I took the black jumper cable and put the first side on the wiper motor and the other side on the engine block. Then I started the car but it still didn’t work. So I guess I have to replace the motor now. I haven’t found any tutorials on how to do it, is it easy or should I just turn my car in to the mechanic?

I also changed fuse no 6 it didn’t help.

This should help you. The manual is written for LHD cars...

Remove the wiring plug and test for power and ground coming from the wiring loom.

Hi Wiry,
I would test for 12v at the wiper plug when the ignition is on & wipers selected first , check fuse with a continuity test as visual not 100% reliable.
Lubricate the pivot points of the mechanism as they get very dry
I use 3in1 rather than wd40 as it doesn’t dry to a sticky mess.
Hope that helps
Keith.

Try swapping the Wiper Relay from another Audi. We had an A6 of the same age as our A2 ( 2003 ). The Wiper Relay on both Cars was exactly the same. Swapping the good Relay from the A6 to the A2 proved the Relay on the A2 to be faulty.

No wipers working and will be trying all the above relay , bad earth , lubricating spindles…before breakdown truck arrives. Probably long wait as A2 has brocken down in the most northerly town on Scottish mainland,Thurso ! I saw a post on the forum where the AA had main a temporary new earth had fixed dead motor.Wish me luck 200 miles from home! Cheers David

Damn. Not good news.
if you decide to test the motor, be VERY careful with the positive cable. When mine went, I mistakenly touched 2 of the positive terminals on the replacement wiper motor, and now I don't have high speed wipe. Wipers still work though.
