Wobbly Climate Unit

Good afternoon,

I bought a used Climate Unit to replace my old one because of the worn buttons. I managed to do it without any problems, but the new unit seems to be a bit wobbly and comes out much easier again than the old one. Anyone had the same experience, or did I perhaps break something as I took the old one out?

First thought is did the new climate have all 4 spring clips and seated correctly?

If yes, suggests spring clips are weak, do old and new spring clips look equally raised?, if not think about bending new springs up if possible.

To check if you broke something, put old climate back in, wobbly?, maybe do this first thinking about it.

How about swapping new button housing onto old climate assuming it works okay and use that, simple enough job, I can advise if necessary.

Just day dreaming/waffling!

Andy

Thanks Andy, I will have a look tomorrow. Indeed, I was thinking of changing the button housing if it doesn't work. Not sure whether I have the correct torx screwdriver at home.

Found the culprit :) Both must have come off when I took the old unit out, I found one on the small tray just underneath (thank God it didn't fall behind those cables, the other one was in the driver's foot well... I have used up all my luck for this year I guess

It appears that I have a similar problem. The lhs of the climate panel (stickered but 90% de-softed on the main panel) rattles, so it's not properly locked in to the console.
Is there a comprehensive how-to guide to removal and rectification? I intend to go the hard-touch route.

Do you have a Single or Double Din Radio?

Mine didn't rattle, the top seemed to be fine but the bottom bit was moving when I touched the buttons. I would say it went about 1cm inwards as I pushed it.

You need to open the ashtray and remove the cubby holder. Just fit your hands in there, make a fist and start pulling. Once removed, you will be able to get to the back of the unit. Again, start pulling until the four clips of the unit unclip. Gently take the unit out and disconnect the cables. You could also remove the radio, but I managed to do it whilst leaving the radio in. I hope this helps.
