Would you remap a car with 180k?

Hi all,
I have a tdi se 75 with 180,000 miles on the clock. I bought it 5 years ago when it had done 100k.
I have read a lot about remapping and would like a bit more overtaking power.
The performance and economy havent diminished noticably and it has been totally reliable but I wonder if any of you have a higher mileage car which has been remapped or could tell me if its ok to do on my car.

Thanks

Paul

Cant see a problem with the engine as long as its been well maintained. A friend remapped their Passat and the new settings revealed a worn clutch that needed replacing PDQ because of the increased torque.

Hi Murdo,
I havent replaced my clutch in 5 years, in fact 6 because I know the guy I bought it from so I't's done at least 90k, I'll factor that into the cost.

Cheers

Rats... thought I might have the highest mileage.... 171,000m.

Not bad for 1 owner... just had the back brakes replaced!

Still on first clutch, exhaust well everything except brakes, ARB, spring and belts...
Drives superb.

I recently had my motorhome remapped, it's an amazing increase in power.
I've been pondering having the A2 now done, but replacing the turbo is not something I'd be prepared to pay for have an extra bit of umph!

Wow,
171k is immpressive for 1 owner!
As much as its imperfect in small ways its difficult to find a replacement.
I bought mine in december 05 with 100k I only bought it because an old mate from the motor trade was buying a house so I paid next to nothing at the time.
Like yourself I havent changed the clutch, rear brakes, exhaust, but plenty of front suspension parts, some of them twice.
I jogged the long life service theory on 2 years ago and get a regular 10k service so it will still cruise at 90 but if I take it easy I can do Liverpool from Wembley on about £15 or so.
Around London I'm still getting an average of 220 miles from £20 and its never let me down.
I think I'll just keep it now till it becomes unviable, whenever that is;)
Part of my plan is to only fit genuine audi parts or upgrades when something wears out.

Cheers
