Think i put in the wrong type of oil into my car.
All longlife service boxes have been ticked till latest page of the service book . Took my manual and i went and bought some castrol GTX magnetec from halfords the guy in the shop said it would be ok for my car.
My cars feeling a bit rough and has some yellow coloured (custard type) goo in the bit where you top up oil.
I assume this aint good.lol

If i have used the wrong oil what damage have i done?
and what can i do to correct it.
Would an oil change rectify this?

Thanks in advance guys

Mayo in oil filler - not necessarily head gasket failure.

Check the coolant level and if it is not falling you should be OK - if it is then you know where the coolant is going.

You don't by any chance do lots of short runs do you - engine never gets warm? Go out and do 100 miles on the motorway to boil all the condensation out of the oil!

My daughters Corsa is like this and always has mayonaise.

most of my driving is normally short journeys, i also do about 20 miles on the motorway 3 times a week to university but mostly short journeys.
car has signalled that oil level is low now, might go to Audi steeler to ask for an oil change or something manual says every 10,000 miles my last oil change/service was at 47,000 im now at 60,000.
Also tried going on castrol site and used their "what oil sould i use tool" and they recommend EDGE 5W-30?
