Wynns 2 step diesel engine restore

Hi Dan
That's the stuff. Loudchris's phoyo shows exactly where I undid the jubilee clip and then squirted in.
It worked for me.

Do not take the inlet pipe off completely as it could suck a load of crap out of the air and into your engine.
The best way to do it, or how i did it was:

Loosen the snap ring at the end of the charge air pipe, and slightly dislocate the rubber pipe from the metal one rust over the ridge.
Replace the aerosol cap with one from a WD40 can, as this has a tube attached to it.
Slide the tube between the rubber and metal pipes. Relocate the rubber pipe but do not release the snap ring.
Start the engine and inject in 2 second bursts.

This way ensures your engine doesn't draw any nasties from the surround air / area.

Just done it to my car and it makes a hell of a racket and sounds like it is going to come off its mounts but after a quick drive it sounds quieter. I have a nearly full tank of fuel so put 3/4 of the high pressure fuel treatment in the tank so i will see how it goes tommorow. I want to thank you John for recommending this to us all as i am sure that i and others would never have known how well it worked and thanks for explaining how to do it so well!! Has it lasted on other peoples engines that did it a few weeks ago?

Cheers
Chris

Just got my bottle of Wynns EGR3 spray, will give this a go today. Hopefully it'll do some good!
I'm already running Millers Diesel fuel treatment additive through my current tank of diesel anyway so I'm sure that's doing the same as the Wynns fuel additive...

I hate to say this but with mine, it was so smooth when i drove it 5 miles after just doing it but the following morning it sounded just as rough as ever. Have i done something wrong?

Chris

Well i don't know, just because it doesn't sound any smoother doesn't mean it hasn't cleaned the egr valve i suppose, you may have better luck anyway!

Chris

Well seeing as I've bought the stuff I'll give it a go and see what happens. I suppose the only way to really know would be to visually inspect the internals before and after. So long as it doesn't do any damage that's the main thing.

Urgh, disgusting stuff! I did the trick of slipping a WD40 straw down into the rubber hose connector. Takes a fair while to unload the whole can when there's just one of you though doesn't it as if you give it too much spray the engine really protests! I wonder how efficacious it really is, it certainly looks/smells like a pretty potent solvent. Basically naptha according to the label.

WYnns for petrol engine

I didnt want to start a new thread, but maybe I should have.. anyway

I want to use wynn DIP3 product on my FSI

1. wynns instruction says to apply it by taking of air filter and spraying in there, but
that will go into MAF sensor. Is it bad ? Will it not clean MAF and engine altogether?

2. there is a nice picture in this thread where to put it in for tdi ( avoiding MAF ), but could someone point out where to apply it in FSI - picture would be very helpful, as I dont know much about engines and where things sit...

Please give me some advice.
