Yellow Colour liquid??

Having driven my A2 yesterday for several hours I parked it over some fresh snow. This morning I moved it and there were two small blobs of yellow liquid in the snow. A quick sniff and feel test revealed that it was odourless and not oily. So my question is has anyone any idea what it is and where the liquid could have dripped from. The position was central about a foot back from the front wheels (roughly below where the gear stick is). The car has only ever been serviced by Audi, so I presume that only Audi fluids have been used.

Fluid from the brake master cylinder?

Worth checking the reservoir level under the LH headlight.

Check the final drive outputs - the drive shaft seals are becoming prone to leaking now on A2s.

The reservoir below the nearside headlamp is the power steering fluid reservoir/pump unit.

Cheers,

Mike

Power steering fluid is a greeny colour.

I know that an oil leak would ordinarily be a brown/black colour, but when it emulsifies with water, it can go yellow, and the position you mention is pretty close to the drive shaft oil seals.

Cheers,

Mike

I noticed a similar patch under my car the other day in exactly the same position. I guessed it was just screen wash that had made its way down from the screen onto the undertray and onto the road but maybe I should make further investigations.

Probably power steering fluid?

I have had a leak of power steering fluid from from my drive shaft seals for quite some time now - and different makes of fluid have slightly different colours - the ones i have used are mainly a kind of sunflower oil yellow, low odour, viscous. So that's what guess it might be.
