Hi all!

I've been looking for a newer car to replace my classic, which I've used daily for the past five years. I wanted something that would stand out from the crowd and be a bit different and having searched through various magazines / dealers, I remembered sitting in an Audi spaceship at the 2000 motorshow at the NEC... So, I trawled the Autotrader, and the Audi dealership sites and found this!

She's a 2003 A2 1.4 SE. I was after either a blue one or a green one, with beige interior, so of course, I signed on the dotted line for a red one with grey interior... I took her for a test drive, and couldn't believe how quiet, warm and comfy she was. Built like a tank, and after my Morris 1000, she felt enormous, but very very nice. :)

I've sorted the insurance out, and hopefully the paperwork will arrive in time for them to tax her for Saturday morning.

Can't quite believe I did it, though... I only went to 'have a look' on Sunday, and came back three hours later with a load of paperwork and a dent in my credit card... Eeeep!

Nice car. You're going to have a rare one there - I've never seen another Metallic Red A2 on the road apart from ours.
What colour is yours? It looks a lighter shade than my old one - pictured below.

It's 'Merlot Red' pearlescent, which is a bit of a misnomer, because Merlot is a relatively purplish tinge... But hey, there you go. It's a deep, rich colour and sets the car off really well. :D It does appear to be a lighter colour than yours, although the pics were stolen from the Audi dealer website. Looking forward to Saturday, I must say - hope the insurance documents arrive in time!!

Your A2 looks really good :)

I've been looking at this forum for weeks now, because I am considering buying an A2 1.4 TDi SE.

I currently drive a 1994 Ford Fiesta, so if I do buy an A2 then this will be a big step up :D

Hi aembleton,

Whereabouts in Wiltshire are you? If you need any encouragement, I'd be happy to run my A2 around...

Ben

Ours was Merlot as well - still prefer that colour to our current black A2 - just a shame Audi stopped it being a standard colour when we hade our accident, thererfore meaning we'd end up paying over a grand to have the same colour as beofre.

Well, the insurance arrived in time, and the handover went as smoothly as you'd expect from Audi. :) Haven't had much time this weekend to take her on a long trip (back from the dealers, and nipped to the shops... that's it  ) however, I have had a good fiddle with the seats, and sorted the CD player out. Didn't know the standard single-CD would play CDRWs... but it does!

She feels absolutely HUGE to drive, and I'm not entirely certain where it finishes yet - so if you happen to see me driving around the west mids, give me a wide berth for a bit... ;) Rosie's not as much fun to drive as my Morris, but she's certainly a bit more practical for what I'm doing at the moment. Roll on half-term (I'm a teacher) and I'll be able to get the old girl out for a run. :D

Well done GJR, Rosie sounds great! People always say "Oh, after a week it'll just be another car" NO WAY! I've had Alfie for 3 years, still love it, still makes me smile!
