Sadly looks like the 2020 is the year of parting ways with my long term A2 TDI.
I still love the car dearly and depart satisfied that I have completed my original project vision way back in late 2013 early 2014.. with a set of wheels bought in 2009..
I still adore the A2 as a package and platform, Excellent as the TDI undoubtedly is at traversing great distances, Im just not very enthusiastic about diesel engines in any other circumstance (which is my day to day now) and unfortunately none of the other engines offered do anything for me dynamically. + I need bit more of a work horse and .. twist nappa leather should not be used for taking plaster board and wood to the recycling center.
For me Ill probably be going back to using an older car from the last Millenium.. an Alfa 164 QV.. or E55 AMG Wagon.. or a Honda ZE1 Insight.. Or maybe ill end up buying another FSI in red and finally carry out the AVY or AFH engine swap ive been fantasising about in recent years.
Who knows.. but Im sure ill still be reading everyones builds and try to get along to a social along the way.
best 2020 to all at A2OC
You've got to keep the Crystal Blue one! Just replace the suspension with something that doesn't have the material properties of reinforced concrete.
Bret what is the road tax like on an a2 in Finland we know uk we hear menno having to pay 80 euro or more per month in Holland have they put up road tax on older vehicles with you ...... got to fix the problems found in the last inspection. New discs needed up front, then the fluid, and all sorts of other stuff is just waiting for time, effort and money to be available.

I'm certainly not based within 50 miles of SE London, but I cover all of London when I'm on my retrofitting tours. I've retrofitted front fog lights more times than I can remember and know the A2's electrics and interior down to the last wire / plastic tab.> Hopefully find someone knowledgeable inside 50 miles of SE London to meet up with for a beer/brew to help me fit my new front fog lights switch, used front fog lamps, and do the wiring for them.
> Ditto the refurbed custom front door check straps Deproman has been crafting in his A2 magicians workshop ?
> Figure out the best solution to replace my dampish front shock, perishing rear bump stops and futureproof my suspension to the optimal comfort ride.
> Fit new Nextbase front and rear cameras (and find someone who won't trash the interior to help me fit the hardwire ?)
I'm thinking of changing the gearbox on my TDi90 (getting a little noisy) and a 6-speed conversion would seem to make sense. Does anybody offer these now? (I lack the time, skills or facilities for DIY jobs beyond simple maintenance).
Other than that, probably thinking of a quick trip to @depronman for a wiper arm fix and, possibly, cruise control install, if you're up for it Paul?
