Today I.....

It really is the best 1 out of my 4.
It is so positive .
It opens 1 (tiny gap)
It opens to 2 (small person get out)
It opens to 3 ( big person get out)
Or 4 all the way..
And shuts in the same way closing or smooth to fully closed?

Today, well yesterday, I fixed my service flap catch and bonnet microswitch, with the help of one of @depronman excellent 3D printed service flap catches. After attaching this, I attached a small extended spring to the end of the service flap microswitch, this allowed for 1) the flap to become Spring loaded when opening it, and 2) the microswitch to engage correctly thanks to the spring. Another job off the list.

Yesterday ...

Following the huge amount of rain during Friday ,Project sheds wiper motor packed up ......

Basic Fault finding and checking of fuse 6 , lead me to believe the motor itself had given up , so after a short session of beating the motor with a hammer and drift ,which failed to wake up the motor...

Was rather pleased to have refurbished the one I collected from Jeremy, and was sat on the shelf waiting to go into “Basil “

So for people, that have swapped out the front suspension stunts , you know the pain that waits , the wiper motor is mounted in a nicely designed frame which also contains the linkage and idler shaft , and is a master piece of engineering and packing. The design team at Audi must have put a lot of time to get this to fit on the right hand drive cars

This little compact package of parts is tucked right up , just beneath the windscreen, and to get at it lot parts need to get removed

So 4 hours later, it’s testing time..only to find out , I have miss aligned the motor to the linkage ,rage ........
I did manage to align the linkage without removing the whole again ,the results was worth the effort, nice smooth wipe judder free

I would say this has prepared me well for replacing the front stuts .

With rain forecast today... Yesterday I;

Upgraded the front brakes on the other A2! yep I like the mod so much I have done it to the FSI as well, I had a failed front bearing on the FSI so had to strip one side and thought I would be kicking myself every time I drove it if it had the small brakes. Have to say the 90 stops so well now they have bedded in.

Had some tyres swapped onto the second set of A1 rims at the back, bled all the brakes and got the old green slime out, so nice clear brake fluid now.

Just have to shift the 4 calipers, 3 hubs and 2 sets of new green stuff pads now!

Finally got round to fitting the false floor, along with the spare wheel kit - probably never going to have another flat now!
And finished off fitting the fog lights that I started back in September, which the hardest and longest part was getting a wire though the bulkhead ?
At this moment, the only other thing on the list is to fit the webasto, I dare say it probably wont stay like that for long ?

Happy Birthday Ian. A nice addition.

Thanks Steve :) Been wanting a personal plate for years before the A2 came along, but with a name like mine, anything meaningful was stupidly expensive until I found the A2 list at DVLA. This just seemed like the perfect opportunity: as well as the A2 it's as close as I can get to my surname in 3 letters.

Today I ... discovered my front nearside tyre is as flat as a flat thing ....

Last Thursday I discovered my front nearside tyre was low and had a big screw in it. The next day I was due to drive to Devon. So as the tread was pretty low and probably not really worth the expense of a puncture repair I thought I would just get the pair of virtually new Toyo Proxes fitted that I aquired a few weeks back. So I raced around on Thursday afternoon trying to find anywhere that would fit 2nd hand tyres, aparantely that is now virtually impossible due to the fact most places want to sell new tyres won't due to the insurance/blame culture in which we all live. Eventually, I find some nice Polish guys who will provide whatever service the customer requires if they have the tools and I have a pair of Proxies fitted for £10.

Friday, whizz down to Devon, Sunday night race back in conditions that would sink some ships, 600 miles covered.

Back to today ... dammit .... it wasn't flat when I parked last night, so all in all a lucky escape I think, but now another trip to the tyre shop ....
