Today I.....

A day of firsts for me. The orange thing has been in the sky for a few days and had a tiny window to do some car stuff. So first time removing the A pillar trim for me to run some cabling for the seat lumbar supports. First time making up a bit of wiring which I had done earlier in the year. Got it as far as the rear centre console. Stripping out this will be another first for tomorrow.

Morning,

Great work, I think it’s amazing that you’re giving this retrofit a go. I’ve got to do exactly the same in the new Jaipur as 2001 Sport models didn’t have electric lumbar support as an option. The new alcantara sears are from a later A2 which of course has the electric lumbar support hardware within the seat frame and it’ll be a shame to not make the most of them.

Kind regards,

Tom

Treated my Audi to a swig of Redex system cleaner yesterday and I’m shocked how much it has improved over 50 miles of driving today.

Out of interest what engine?

I have a long dual carriageway and motorway run / ¾ of a tank of fuel to burn through at the end of the week so ideal to tip some in

1.6FSI has to my knowledge always been run on Shell V Power, but I noticed in the service file that it was given a petrol cleaner each year

Is Redex or similar more aggressive than constant V Power use?

Have always run my FSI's on E5 Supermarket fuel. When purchased they were dosed with Archoil, then added every 4 or so fill ups.
I dosed my 3.0d Jag XF with Archoil, when purchased, and dose it every other fill, run on cheapest Supermarket Fuel. Over 18k miles it has averaged 49mpg over mixed driving. Not bad for 300bhp!

I don't think an engine, run on a good quality, high detergent fuel, such as Shell V-Power, would benefit from proprietary additives.
The additives in forecourt fuel are highly aggressive, as well as toxic, and anything similar could not be sold within the trade, let alone over the counter
Top quality fuel, that results from the millions that are spent by major oil companies on fuel research seems, (to me anyway), unlikely to be improved by a bottle of off the shelf stuff.
But, each to his, or her own, and I doubt it'd do any harm.
Mac.

ATL / tdi 90. I was reading through threads and saw it mentioned and then noticed it at the garage so had to give it a try.

Today the low miler Tdi passed it's Mot, a clean pass with no advisories.
The tester said the emission limit was 1.81 and it passed with 0.09 😊

Just a good detail inside and out and it'll be up for sale soon👍 😊

It's a Cracker. 👍
Only ever been worked on by Glasgow Audi and Kwikfit to change tyres with all the paperwork to back it up. I've spent a small fortune recommissioning the car fitting many new parts including Tbelt and waterpump I even had the wheels powdercoated and new tyres fitted so it really does want for nothing.

I'll probably regret selling it but I've got my sights on a nice 90 sport so this has to go

Today I received the new Bosch HT leads for my 1.4.SE. The leads currently on the car are the original ones which are now 22 years old so I thought it was about time I replaced them to go with the new Bosch coil pack fitted 6 months ago.

Can you post up a link for the leads where you bought them from please

Mac.
Agree with Mac - if regularly run on V-Power then no additive is going to give you anything on top. It’s literally the finest fuel you can buy in either petrol or diesel flavour.

I was presented with this sight as a result of my son’s heavy-handedness on today’s school run...

Please help me find a replacement! I’ve put an ad in marketplace.

If the plastic clip in section has broken you get get various colours on fl-ebay for a few pounds, mine on the A4 broke last month and the replacement is good. Not sure at the hinge end, probably Steve or Andy or Ami.

Car Parts In Motion on Ebay. Currently showing as £36.50 and there's a 10% off offer that would reduce this further.
