Today I.....

If you ever find your gear stick gaiter is missing any of the three retaining tabs here's a cheap fix:
Get a 'Dishmatic' clip on plate scrubbing pad.
Cut out the single retaining clip on the back of the pad and trim to size.
Superglue new tab onto the gaiter retaining ring. Add some extra superglue all around the join area and sprinkle with bicarbonate of soda (forms a flexible polymer).

Always good to find you can fabricate a fix with stuff that's already lying about the house.

Brilliant 413, I discovered one of mine was broken off the last time I adjusted the gear change ... will give this a try, I'm a great fan off superglue and baking soda remedies πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

It actually looks like the spring has totally failed maybe even causing the blowout,I had a similar experience in only a few miles caused by a failed manhole surround on a bend the pothole was just the right size for my tyre to go in & the bend in the
road caused it to move the bead & leak air with identical results.
Exhaust has failed on the top weld as well from the looks of it.
As promised, here are the pictures with the wheel off;

I’m pleased to say springs look fully intact and most crucially, identical to the off side!

Sadly the tyre is in such a state I guess I’ll never know what caused it’s untimely demise. No sign of damage on the tread at all but the inside and out of the sidewall is in such a state I can’t begin to guess where the issue began.

Fortunately I’ve a spare of the same design with a budget tyre that it can sit on until the exhaust gets welded and I can face spending the money on another cross climate 2 😬

Surprised at that because I think Steve Birchall had the wishbones changed a couple of years ago before sale.

Yes they were replaced by SteveB! But as the tester said; β€œ state of the roads I’m not surprised, seen cars a year old fail before now!”

New cast arm on order…..

Yep, nowt wrong with those springs, they are just under a impression because the Ivor has been wound up/down depending on your perspective.
