Local Audi/TPS if you can wait for more normal times and you want four rings on it.

Otherwise a few options if you just Google 'Audi 036129061A', Autodoc is typical...

For used suggest you put an ad in Wanted in the Marketplace on here.

Got to ask what is the background of why you need it?

Hi Andy

thank you for your reply, the plastic rod has broken
So it doesn’t operate the valve open and closing on within the lower manifold. The engine management light on comes on around 2000 rev and it miss fires then too.
so mechanic put the car on a diagnostic machine and came up with that as an answer to the issue.

just trying to work out how to put the message on the market place on here. Do you have to pay to upgrade the account? I thought I read something like that!

Leon yes its a £2 once only fee.
For a used item try @A2Steve or @Clackers.

To answer your last question first, yes as per Jellybean's reply you need to pay the £2 first. To anticipate your next question, to pay the £2 click on your user name in the main menu bar and you will see 'Account upgrades' in the drop down list, click and follow. You are missing out on a big part of the forum otherwise, many simple Marketplace items often develop into an informative discussion on the item.

I do hope you/your mechanic understand the vacuum actuator arm broke for a reason and simply replacing it is almost pointless it will simply break again in a short time, complete waste of part money and labour costs. The reason it breaks is normally the flaps become very sticky/seized due to the build up of carbon from the recycling part of the exhaust gas and the vacuum actuator faces too much resistance and breaks.

Two ways to fix it, either

1. Strip down and clean the lower inlet manifold, rebuild with new actuator. Expect professional labour charges for 3 or 4 hours labour as well as £100ish for parts, but this does assume a new lower manifold is not needed - expensive at ~£450! VCDS will also be required to adapt the flaps.

Or a new innovation

2. Map out the flaps completely. Info here...

Finally, it is unusual for a flap fault to cause a misfire problem. I fear this is a seperate issue - any more information?

Hope this helps and please ask any questions.

Andy

Edit. There is hours of reading on here if you Google 'a2oc 17439 p1031' for links to get you started.

just jumping in on this as its related sort of long story short stripped all mine out and cleaned it all put it back together n took it for mot and guess what the light came on, does this have to be set back up using a code reader or have I done something stupid, I should of really but a new one in while I had it all apart, but there we are, any advice would be greatfull

Sounds you have done the right work and yes the flaps simply have to be adapted with VCDS and hopefully that will sort it for you.

You ask about doing something stupid, I am sure you are not!, but there is a pitfall of not pininng the flaps shut during reassembly which no doubt has occurred with others in the past. There are two holes in the vacuum actuator arm for this purpose and the manual warns otherwise the flaps will not adapt and result in an EML.

oh lovley job thankyou for your input much apricated, ill see about finding some one local that knows what they are doing with vcds

Sean, firstly the light coming on should not have caused your A2 to fail the MoT (2003 is the year where they start requiring that of petrol cars) so hopefully you made it through the test okay.

Secondly, because I have VCDS, it's no effort to scan your car and clear the fault codes. I'm no specialist as far as the FSI goes, but this video from Mr Broons suggests a way forward:

Without the lockdown I'd be offering to come straight round, but you might want to send me a PM and maybe we can sort something out.

oh great thanks, yes I got a full ticket on it just advisory what I didn't really want reg is yj02dtd if you want to have a look at the mot history I personally think iv got it back on track, brakes were advisory for a few years and from what I can tell is the only work what has been neglected, but all done now, I appreciate your offer and I think I will have to take you up on that at some point
