1000rpm tickover normal?

Hi all

I have bought a Tdi 90. It ticks over at 1000rpm and I was just wondering whether this is normal for this model?

I am getting around 54mpg on a mix of short jouneys (>10 miles) and longer trips (20 - 50 miles) with lots of hills. I suppose this is not far off what I should expect?

This is normal for all TDIs 90 and 75

getting just under the 1000rpm mark, around 900 or so.

I have a TDI 90, it idles at 1000rpm solid. So have other TDI 90's I have seen.
I get similar MPG too.
