Symptoms are poor driving. like fuel starvation.....hardly goes past 3000rmp without bunny hopping about, flat spots, no power....

over the last week i have fixed the following faults: snapped vac actuator, faulty NOx both have been replaced and errors have gone but the car still drives the same as it did when the vac actuator arm was snapped. I have also changed the fuel filter and inspected the in-tank pump which is constantly working.

I have checked the inlet flaps are clean and clear from any blockages.

ermmmmmm Im at a loose end now whether to buy a load of new sensors or if its something like the high pressure fuel pump..?

not wanting to be a bringer of bad news-----injectors are shot. i take it from your brief description that its an fsi engine? cheers mike

Yes its an FSI.

Its done around 140k

Is the removal of injectors a big job? Obviously im not scared in doing the labour.

I was going to follow a process of buying a new N276 and G247 then a new in tank pump and then a new high pressure pump but I could be putting all this money in for no gain.

If i was to take it to audi is there a full diagnostic that could be run to show which injectors and if the sensors are actually faulty or if there isn't enough fuel pressure from either pump etc etc

I have recently downloaded the Torque app on my phone and bought a Bluetooth if that can help me post more info..

My mechanic uses a full time auto diagnostics guy- to work on these problems and he was pulling his hair out trying to get to the bottom of my almost non running car. He fitted low pressure/high pressure pumps/fuel filter/MAF/EGR/lambda's/throttle body/ECU was sent off for checking and a twin was made and tried. In the end it was viewing the inlet and upper cylinders with a bore scope he noticed that two cylinders were very wet with fuel. so off with the inlet manifold assembly and injectors were removed and inspected. Two looked carbon'd up but that wiped off easily, i suggested he swap them for new audio ones----BINGO ran a dream straight away. So he put back all my other parts and only charged for the fitting of injectors. There has been another member that recently had his done with the same symptoms---just be aware that at no point did any diagnostics hint at injector problems. I was getting mis fire-lean running.

hope this helps mike

Right a brief update.

Injectors were out and sent for cleaning. They were cleaned in an Ultrasonic Bath . The company were not able to test them and FSI injectors need a high psi.

Put the engine back together and it ran much better than before. Still had no power but revved freely and drove well (no flat spot at 3000rpm). Just had no g-force at all.

Took the car to a local garage to pressure test the system. I was only using a pressure tester that read up to 100psi but i felt there was enough to tell me if if things were working ok.

i tested on the feed line that leads to the manual high pressure pump and this read 53psi. I then tested the outlet of the Fuel-pressure regulating valve -N276
this read 47psi. I then tested between the high pressure fuel pump and lower inlet manifold and this shot up to 100psi as i started the car and then continued to run at 55psi at all revs.

I then removed the high pressure full pump and ran the car off the lift pump and the car only revved up to 2000rpm.

Really really lost with this car now. :( Is this indicating a faulty high pressure fuel pump?

So far i have replaced the vaccum unit that runs the flaps, replaced the nox sensor as this was faulty and also replaced the Fuel-pressure sender -G247, had the injectors cleaned, clean my lower intake manifold and flaps.

Update:

I now have two errors. The first that appears on idle is 17428 and then 17439 after a short drive.

I have now replaced both:
Fuel-pressure regulating valve -N276
Fuel-pressure sender -G247

When i bought the car the Vacuum actuator was snapped and the Intake manifold flap air flow control valve -N316 was not working. I replaced both with used parts and the valve seems to be working as i see the vacuum move on start up. I did not change the Intake manifold flap potentiometer-G336. I also had to change the NOx Sensor as that was a constant error.

Does it seem with my 17428 error that i need to change the potentiometer/have it reset or something and could this be causing the 17439 error?

After all the work i have done there is a massive improvement in the car. It feels now that im driving a 1.0l car not something that does not want to leave the lights. It now drives up to 5000rmp with the occasional flat spot around 3000rpm

Todays update: visited 4 Rings specialists near heathrow. After a diagnotics scan The same errors appeared on his machine.

17428 P1020 035
Fuel Pressure Regulation Control limit exceeded
static

17439 P131 035
Intake manifold runner control (IMRC) Valve - N316
Target Value not reached
static

He suggested changing the N316 for a new item as the figures were not changing on the flap when rpm was increasted to 5000.

Done this and there is still no change.

Just a quick question, did you get this sorted? I have the same problems and running out of options.
thanks in advance.

Well after it being at the garage for 4 weeks they started work and couldn't find a definite problem.

After changing what i had changed they said i had put the inlet manifold on upside down. (i don't think thats even possible.) Anyway they snapped the repaired actuator so replaced this and then used the process of elimination route and changed the high pressure fuel pump. Cost me a massive £600 for something I should have just done myself.
:(:(:(

Car drives and run but now has the common flat spot, power surge at 3000k and 4500k-ish but this is only when its hot.

Thanks for the update, I've been trying to avoid having to replace the high pressure fuel pump as it runs fine when cold although it still generates P1020. Your experience seems to be suggesting I need to stump up the cash for a new HP pump:(
Do you know how much the pump was?
