A pic of my A2

Hi all,

Thought I'd take a pic after washing our new addition to the family :)

One thing I found weird though when hand washing this car, is the amount of grit it seems to attract. I'm paranoid about getting small bits in the sponge and then rubbing it into the paintwork.

I wash all our other cars int he same way and have never had this problem before?

Excuse the composition, etc, etc - I'm no good at photography!

Cheers,
Paul. :)

Thanks! This is a simple wash and dry - I haven't even applied the Diamindbite treatment yet...that's when it'll really look the biz!

The mitt looks good - for the same price I'm going to get this:

got my meguiars clay kit today just need to get a decent pre-wash (strong citrus) and then ill clean the car up

That Meguirs mitt off ebay looks good I shall try one of those.

Yes, but I 've just read on their own US forum that they don't last that long :(

I'm going to try their other (microfibre) version of the same instead.
Best one I've seen (with free del) is:

Here's the ultimate guide though: http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/products/products/203838/car_wash_aids.html

Thought I'd share it with you guys :)

I use the microfibre mitt, and would recommend it. Also you will notice the difference after using the clay kit, polish and carnuba wax, water runs straight off. I even did the house windows, and havn't had to clean them for ages.

This is exactly the finish I acheive with Diamondbrite - the water runs off all the time! The beauty is, it is a permanent finish and I never need to wax again to renew this!

Go easy with the clay kit. They can inflict fine swirls if used incorrectly, use plenty of lubricant spray and knead the clay every panel so as not to swipe grit across the other panels.

Dont trust autoexpress product guides. They are known to take back handers for this (Apparently) :D

So which should I get - the Meuiars microfibre, or this Kent 2in1?
I went off their guuide when buying a torque wrench - can't complain....their reasoning is sound and they aren't afraid to dish it out if the product is cr*p!

They base their product reviews on good products at a good budget price.

So car valeting items such as you see at cleanyourcar are a way better product, but the average joe is not really going to spend that much on tarting their car up (except me :D) SAD

The megs stuff is a quality product but do not go for the lambswool mitt as they do not last that long. Go with the microfibre mitt if thats what you really want but the shmitt foam mitt is a really great product and in my opinion the best out of those mentioned.

Grab some sonus cloths if you go for the shmitt as they are top drawer!
