A1 S line 2ltre Diesel

Borrowed one today whilst my A2 had some replacement discs and brake pads

In short I came to the conclusion that I would lose my license within a week or do myself some serious injury, the acceleration was wicked.

Happy to be back with my old faithfull and some sensible driving :cool:

I can well imagine that the 2.0TDI CR makes the A1 absolutely fly!

Ton of weight to put at the front of such a little car though, I imagine it corners a bit naff. 185ps 1.4 petrol with the 7 speed DSG sounds nice.

Muttering wrotters of various publications do say the 1.6 TDi is a much better all round car but I still wouldn't say no to a 2.0TDi A1...... maybe just needs a bit of specialist input into the suspension spec, ARB etc.

The limited edition quattro at ADI was quite pacey - I was taking it easy in the TT, but even so, the acceleration shown by the little white car was pretty spectacular.

Pity that it's limited and has no space internally. Might as well buy a decent Renault 5 GT for £3k and pocket the extra £37k!

Cheers,

Mike

Came across one at Donington. It certainly wasn't slow and I let it pass (it was wet, he must have been on road tyre, I was on cold CR500). It took the Craner's Curve at decent speed and didn't look bad at all.

I had a 1.4tfsi 185bhp A1 with the stronic box. It was ok but very thirsty indeed. The 2 litre TDI is a much better option. The 1.6 TDI is boring

The cr is so much smoother than a pd I'm sure that if changing the injection was a similar job to the six speed conversion it would be next on the list of must-haves :)
I think the Polo 1.2 tdi is ali blocked, I can't remember if the 1.6 is though.

Ah, I think the 1.2 is the same bore as the 1.4 but a shorter stroke, I'll have a potter about and see what else I can find out.
