A2 automat gear - Hydraulics control unit out of order - refurbish

I have found the O-rings that I bought:

20.35 x 1.78
20.1 x 1.6
19.1 x 1.6
7.65 x 1.78
7.5 x 1.5

I suspect that the two centre grooves use the same O-ring (20.1 x 1.6). 19.1 x 1.6 at the inner end and 20.35 x 1.78 at the outer end.

I had to purchase a minimum number for each size, so have many more than I ever needed, so I can send you a set or two! They differ in size slightly from what the Germans measured (and yourself) but that's what I measured them as.

Hi again

Today I had time to reasemble after @RAB gave me o-rings, thanks again!

As you may remember, i had to cut a bolt. Today I made a new one, the 2 part I have made on my new lathe.
Tomorrow I will go to the garage and deliver my "new" hydralic control unit.

I must probably ask them to do the gear adjustment, and I dont now how to do it myself...
Is this the facit or do I need to understand even more of htis process?

Made of a stailess steel screw, will last forewer.

Hi

One more question, can the pump be tested in bench?
Can I connect 12 v to motor and run it til it stops, or do I need to connect it to the car?

You could test the motor (only) on the bench but not while it's connected physically to the rest of the unit. The pump stops because the pressure required is achieved, which won't be the case on the bench. Probably best to test the whole assembly on the car.

If the pump doesn't run, check the pump relay, no. 4 on the 9-point relay carrier under the driver's side floor. It will have a circuit diagram on it. Carefully connect a battery charger across the power terminals and then check the resistance across the two remaining terminals with a meter. The reading should be very low. There is also a 20A fuse for the pump on the same carrier.
