A2 Northern Meet - NEW DETAILS ADDED

I booked into the Travelodge Leeds Colton which seemed the best price and is very close to Temple Newsam.
I'm really looking forward to it

I've corrected the details where I said 'North East of Leeds' ... when Temple Newsam is in fact Five miles EAST of Leeds City Centre

Anyway I can see you've found it OK and Leeds Colton is very nearby

Look forward to seeing you

Hilary,

We (Lee and I) will definitely be there for the meet up but may have to leave before the pub meal.

Aimee :D

This event is not very far off now so I should give some details. I've been delaying putting up the full plan for the day as the location are still yet to get back to me about the parking area.

However, assuming this all falls into place without a hitch, here are the details...

Sunday 11 June from 10am

Temple Newsam is five miles to the east of Leeds, West Yorkshire. We chose it because hopefully it has something for everyone

Historic House in beautiful grounds
Woodland walks
Children's Animal farm
Cafe
Reserved Parking Area (to be confirmed! I'll do my best to get one of the nice car parks with views!)

We're looking into a pub for late afternoon/early evening food - some more reccying to be done

More details as soon as we know

Thanks to everyone already keen to come along to our Second "Aye2 Up" Northern Meet

Hilary

I must admit that I won't be able to stay too late as its about 3.5 hrs home for me if I don't stop. I'll stay as long as I can though.
Really looking forward to it :)

Leeds Colton is less than 3 miles from Chez HB.
If arriving the night before then can I suggest the following for food:
Franco's on Thorpe Park is a great Italian tucked away on what is to be frank a fairly functional looking business park:

Fab food and nice but crazy owner.

However Indian would be my true choice if you have not had a proper Yorkshire Curry.
Aagrah at Garforth is less then 10 mins drive from Colton, probably my fave Indian in Yorkshire.

If British is your fancy, there is a Harvester a 100m from the Hotel. Never been in!, but my choice would be the Three Horseshoes in Oulton (4.5 miles from hotel, and just off J30 M62). There is also the Brown Cow 1.5mile from the hotel, not sure on food there these days!

oh....nearly forgot...Skyliner Fish an Chips! some of the best you will have! Half a mile from Hotel on "Colton Roundabout" heading towards Leeds. They have eat in or take out. Fried in proper drippin and mainly Haddock, the discerning choice!

Hilary,

We (Lee and I) will definitely be there for the meet up but may have to leave before the pub meal.

Hi all is this a dog friendly weekend ? Rosie would love to come and meet you all.
Unable to get a dog sitter that weekend !
Will come Sunday definitely, plus Saturday if we can find a room somewhere for two adults +dog.
Cheers Graham & Trish...

Not only are dogs welcome, it's a real Mecca for dog walkers. If your dog likes a swim (ours does!) then there is a brilliant lake to swim in which normally I use to de-mud the dog in autumn/winter. Lots of forest trails and long paths for throwing sticks and balls etc. Brilliant venue for dogs!

We have booked in at Leeds Colton for June the 10th, and they accept dogs (at a price) but all is good, Rosie can come with us for the weekend.
Looking forward to meeting you all. Graham, Rosie and Trish.

Hi A2-Dork

Yes, that's right - although I can't open that link

Apologies for being so late with the information. Confirmed the car parking area today so now I'm ready to post all the details.

Hope you can make it.

Hilary

Sorry I'm a bit late with these arrangements. Many people interested in attending and driving long distances to Yorkshire so that is great.

We'd like to organise a Pub meal in the afternoon. Seven miles away which that would allow us to do a short drive.

Appreciate that many have a long journey home but if we arranged it early enough, would that fit in with your plans?

Let us know on this thread if you have any preferences for time.

Thanks

Hilary

Hi Hilary,

Thanks again for organising this. We'll certainly be up for the meal, if our plans meet with everyone else's, and appreciate your thinking of those with a journey. We'll likely be aiming to be on the road back no later than 5'ish I should think.

Many thanks.

Darren

Will our Transporter be welcome in the reserved parking area? Our A2 has taken up residence in our garage and won't be coming out for a while! :)

im in the same boat as you J3FVW
Maybe i could park my Caravelle next to your Transporter ?

If thats ok Hilary count me in please ..
