Popped in to visit my dad today and whilst i was there a very heavy thunder storm dumped a couple of inches of hail stones.Ah well i thought, at least it will wash off some of the crud. When i went to leave i found that all radio,cd and tape functions were inop, infact all we had was a gohstly glow from the display.
As my dealer was on my way home i popped in and, expecting the worst, asked for some advice. The technician came out and took a look but was'nt sure what was wrong untill i mentioned the storm, then proceeded to remove and refitt the radio fuse and heh presto all was working again!
It seems that this has happened before. The charge either from the lightening or from the staticaly charged hail causes the system to get overloaded, even though it is not turned on,and a internal system shuts down to save further damage.
So if your radio ever goes all blank give the fuse trick a try,you never know, that might be all it needs!
