Any of you own another Audi?

I own half an A6 Avant 1.9TDI (l share it with my parents), built 6/96, was very good and reliable up until the start of this year, then things started breaking down (new clutch, 1000€, new wheel bearings and springs, 500€, new sensor or other for the engine, another 500€....) so it will be sold and I´m planning on getting another A2 (at the moment, a Peugeot 307 SW is also in the running..)

Bye, Frido.

Mmm. My A4 (8/98) has started showing signs of age. The bottom rubber trim on the outside of the passenger door; the brackets which attach to the door have rusted and it is coming away. Also the black metal 'crimp' surround on the windscreen has rusted at the top and is 'bubbling' up. Nothing major, but just starting to look a little ragged.

Weird isn't it. My wife and I were torn between a TT and an A2, but she got claustrophobic in the TT so we went for the A2. My bank manager and I both took a sigh of relief and we still have a really nice car in the A2.

My wife would say too many !

A6 TDI 140 Avant - Very capable, 6spd, 47mpg, 750 mile range, some smoke on accel, 1st gear too low, nothing went wrong in 80k miles.
Audi Convertible 2.8 - Looked great, especially with hardtop - bit too boulevard cruiser to drive though, filled it up 3 times in 2 years.
Audi RS2 - bonkers performance on boost, great brakes (once warm), ponderous gearshift, fuel gauge inaccurate, tank too small, 30mpg possible, 24 average.

My wife found the same problem - oh how I tried to convince her otherwise, even telling her it would feel different in silver (we sat in a black one):)

Mmm, I often wonder how she'd have felt if I'd have got in a TT cabriolet with the roof down, that might have been a different story.

Bloody reliable machines I must say, and probably why I'm driving one now. Starting from the Audi Quattro, to an Audi 100, then an Audi A6 and now an A8 + A2 there's a subtle suggestion that we like Audi :) Not a single one had or has had any mechanical problems or anything - so either we're blessed with good Audi fortune or they're just excellent cars. Perhaps a bit of both [:p]. I can't remember too much of the earlier ones 'coz I was only a little nippah at the time but I can safely say the A8 we have at the moment is the dogs kohona's. With it's relatively lightweight body and beefy 4.2 V8 there's very little that stands in it's way. I love it - all that power at the blip of the throttle. And we got it to 180mph (although the speedometer might be a bit optimistic) in Germany a few times, and just cruised along as if it were nothing. Shame it has to go :(, eats up petrol around town like there was no tomorrow. Any one interested ?:D
