AUA fuel pump relay part

Hi all

My 2001 1.4 AUA is in a VAG specialist having some starting problems diagnosed.

They say I need a new fuel pump relay part 8Z0 906 383 but they can’t get one from Audi.

I’d really appreciate if anybody could point to where I might get hold of a relay.

Many thanks

John

You can try posting a wanted listing and one of our breakers (@Ami @A2Steve @Clackers) may have one. I would also be surprised if there isn’t an equivalent from the VAG parts bin for Skoda, VW etc for new items

Best wishes

J
Its a 612 no, according to my list I should have 2, but can not locate them in the relay box at the minute, will search again.

I have one £15 plus £4 postage or collection in Dartford

Hi. I need one too as mine left me stranded miles from home today. RAC to the rescue, as I had no tools in the car.

They've been discontinued by Audi in 2020 with no replacement part number (I just called to buy one). A pretty poor show really.
In a pinch, you can substitute in a normal 40A 12v relay and it will work, but.....you will have the following issues...
The fuel pump, injectors and lambda will power on as soon as the ignition comes on, so don't sit there with the ignition on and the car not running or you'll have a flat battery in no time at all, and hope none of your injectors leak.
The pump will continue to run in the event of a stall.
The pump will continue to run in the event of a crash.......don't crash.

I've just bought this one for a Jetta, for £11.50, but has 2 week delivery date (really???)
Not genuine, but worth a punt as new ones seem to be about £85 (not happening).

Just checked and cleared any codes (there were a lot of them).
The only one which came back was for Fuel Pump Relay Open Circuit, and that's probably because the lash-in relay coil probably has a different coil resistance, and therefore different current draw. It'll do for now.

If you can measure the coil resistance on your old one, maybe you can add a 1/4 watt resistor, they do open if I remember correctly.

Thinking about it, adding a resistor in series with the coil wont make any difference.
As a standard relay isn't connected to terminal 1/Mot (which is connected to the command signal from Terminal 65 on the ECU), the ECU currently has no connection at all to the relay coil, and can't monitor the load of the coil. Anyway, I'm not going to worry about it too much until January (MOT time). Thanks though. I've made a pdf of the ECU wiring (attached) if anyone wants it....
