Audi Driver International 2011

Dont think I will be able to make this one now.

My car is going into the body shop on the 6th and I will be picking it up on the 8th.

It seems that demand for the evening meal and awards part of the day is very low this year, so far, only Riverlad is confirmed, apart from myself.

I know that there's a feeling in some quarters that the room is full of drunken car salesmen, only just short of being suited yobs, and I agree to a large extent that the event has suffered in recent years from an increasing amount of these types.

So, the question must be, are we going to book a table this year, or are we going to knock it on the head, give 2011 a miss and then come back stronger in 2012?

I've secured 20 places for the club stand at the circuir for us, but how's the group track session lookign?

Yes Jeff, your club stand donation has been recieved.

As to the awards, I've been told that hotstuff and Heidi are planning on attending, but I've yet to recieve PMs or payments. If things remain as they stand in a weeks time, then I'll let ADI know that A2OC will not be attending the awards this year.

The wife and i will be there for the gala dinner, we booked direct through autometrix but i'm sure they can put us on your table if you are low on numbers.

Thats a shame when you think we had 2 full tables in 2009. Cant comment on the suited drunks! Me and Dave were pretty squiffy by 11pm :eek:

Must say I enjoyed the company and the run from Swindon Audi in the RS6 to the hotel but the awards ceremony not really my thing (apart from seeing Skip in his saville row gear picking up his award!!) If I hadnt been scuppered on days of from work, I'd have been doing the day thing but not the evening this year - primarily as I'll be visiting and staying with family in the area. Same will apply next year when hopefully I'm not on call the preceding Friday :(

I certainly hope the evening event does not wither on the vine for the A2OC - we need at least one representative to pick up the communication award and a few helpers to field the bemused looks from other Audi fans that dont get the A2. Whats wrong with them????

Moreover when it appears that the club is going from strength to strength..... ( well 10 year anniversary badges excluding :p)

Mike, Petra, the boys and myself wil definitely be there for the circuit day as well as the evening gala dinner. It may be that only one A2 is there although I have paid for stands for both (plus a little extra). We have also booked and paid for our hotel accommodation. I'll pm you now to see what I've missed.

It is a shame that i'm not attending this year as i looks like a few others are staying away too. Well some of the other tables may get to win the quizz this year then ;)

Well, after discussion with the other proposed attendees, we've all decided to forego the official evening event in favour of a break-away event, being organised by our very own A2sumo.

It is with some regret that A2OC won't be there in an official capacity this year, but the increasing numbers of rowdy car salesmen, seemingly out for an expenses paid knees up have put a lot of people off and so 2011 will see the first year in a long time that we've not attended.

Unfortunately, it appears dates clashing with in-laws duties means I may not even make the day event or will be a very limited appearance...
 
Really sorry that as a club we won't be attending the awards evening of ADI. Having said that, Petra and I share the sentiment as to why we should pay good money for mediocre food and poor service.
Oh yes, and have to put up with irresponsible selfish hooligan behaviour which seems to be more prevalent nowadays!!!
Looking forward to a quiet, quality evening with the A2OC clan that our boys can enjoy as well.

PS - I've removed the duplicate events - and relinked the sticky to the ones with the most names on them. Note that in the original daytime event, the following members had expressed an interest in attending. They aren't in the new events calendar.

Shame that you didn't see the post on how the bookings were being handled (I was a little bit lax, but the post went up in mid August) - you'll be the sole representative of A2OC in this case - enjoy!! The rest of us will be around at the Hilton, and during the day event too, so we'll bump into each other no doubt.

I was planning to come only to the daytime event (I don't do 'formal'), but the break-away sounds interesting. Do I need to put my name down anywhere?
