Audi-forums.com

should I add in to this that the A2OC is the reason 'ze Germans' use VB? ;)

there's only two decent sources, AFAIK, and that's a2oc and a2-freun.de. End.

and if you need translations.. ask!

I'm one of the mod's who tried to reason with you regarding posting links to your own site.

All we asked is that you stop promoting your own site every time you answered a question, you were more than welcome to answer people question but how can we develop our own A2 section if all you do is point them to your site.

I respect your knowledge is far greater than my own or anyone else on our forum. I can see that your forum on A2's is well knowledge able but our only issue was your advertising.

You will be a loss I will grant you but we asked you in PM's to not do what you have been doing but you got very rude about it and you were not prepared to calm down so you were banned.

Now you may delete my responses or ban me but I'm not here for a fight just to explain thing clearly to all.

Just to note I volunteer my help and I'm on loads of forums to do with Audi's but even I do not keep pointing people to other forums for answers I answer them if I can and leave it at that.

And before I get slatted I know very little about the A2 and its spec I'm a B5 A4 man my self.

Now you may want to Ban edit or remove my post if you like but your post where removed due to your ban it's an automatic thing.

These are one of your own rules here.

The forum must not be used to promote non-A2OC websites, products, services or events unless agreed in advance with the club owners. Audi A2 related items for private sale may be advertised in the selling section of the forum. Any abuse of these rules will result in the offending posts being removed and/or the person responsible being barred from the forum.

docurley,
I am German and my forum is the German A2 forum, I am here just for fun and for helping people. But I guarantee you that your post will not be removed here as this is a non-profit forum and the owners can well handle with links to other sites. We at the German forum do remove pure advertisement but no helping links, direct-links and even general links to any site.
I think this is here exacly the same. Although it is written down (for their savety) differently in their rules here.
We had this problem with the moderators of www.motor-talk.de and as written down in their rules, and what they said us, it is ok to post direct-links. Which help their own community or singles persons with a specific problem. So now I don't post our general link anymore but mention the "other" ("better" ;) ) A2 forum sometimes. I don't care so much because my home forum is the most important to me and not others. So I dare more because of that background and that I calculate to be banned (not working on that happens really). Maybe Mike did dare a bit more and did not cared so much about it as you want him to.

I more suspect this thread to be closed soon but not any post to be removed.

I wanted to send a PM but I say it here to Mike: Don't reply here (sure you may). But think about it on your own, not open to the public here. It is already said everthing here.

docurley, I had pretty much got this thread rounded off, but then you turn up!

No, your post won't be deleted or you barred, as we're not like that, however, a correction if I may:

"but you got very rude about it and you were not prepared to calm down so you were banned."

I was PM'd about being personal and insulting, as in one of my posts I said "Spoken like a true heathen", which was construed by you or one of the other mods as being gratuitously offensive to another member!

I was and remain calm about the whole situation and have never used foul language or heated language, but as it seemed you were unable to accept that my reasoning and I wouldn't back down in my attempts to offer a speedy method of help to A2 users specifically, I was banned and my posts removed.

Not only that, but a later post from another member was deemed unsuitable for posting, talk about censorship! Your site obviously has a small number of A2 owners amongst the membership and I was and remain appalled and saddened that there were (are?) no positive replies to anyones queries, with most responses coming from mods and being along the lines of "part-ex it" or "why do you want to get one of those, they're cr*p"

As to the A2OC rules, they are mere guidlines and if websites, products or services are deemed to be of benefit to members, then they remain. Take the recent posts by Opie Oils, Steve Russells new garage - http://www.rac-london.co.uk/, various other independents and the list goes on.

Yes, you may turn round and say, they offer 10% off for members or whatever, but as the A2OC is free, we can't offer anything off to your members if we 'advertise' on your site and we certainly can't pay for advertising, as we are not about making a profit, so don't have funds to give you!

So, can we now let things settle? As you say yourself, it's your loss.

Cheers,

Mike

Sorry Erstens - crossed posts!

Why are people posting saying how great this site is? It has nothing to do with that. In fact this site is excellent for information, period. But once again the members trot out to post how great this site is without actually reading the issue. Should ad links be placed in other forums? I opened 3 posts on Audi-sport 2 had ppl asking members to try here, is that on?
and any idea that Opie oil, RAC-london or A2's german forums are competition unless most UKA2 members speak german is stretching it a bit. Now we have a balanced view people can make up there own minds, but im sure we will get more lov'in posts. Anyway last post, honestly...

I found out about this site thru' a thread on Audi-net site, who do not seem to have any trouble with the link. I cannot imagine Audi themselves take kindly to a 'marque forum' being 'unkind' about their products IF it is true that the A2 is regarded on some forums as described by Mike. TBH I haven't looked so am relying on this thread to form my conclusions. From my experience on other car forums you might be surprised how much notice the manufacturers can take and often have staff contributing through 'alias' names/backgrounds. So perhaps it is time everyone took a step back and perhaps the other forum reviewed their view of the A2 into a more positive aproach?

I think if the adds are for information only and the forum that they are cannot help why not as it has been said this site is not about money its about helping people and just general chat nuff said

Cheers Phil

I'm one of the culprits on Audi-Sport forums who refer to A2oc links when answering the occasional question. As indicated in some of the above posts, it's done to provide the writer with the best possible information I have access to and not to promote our own club, although I accept its likely to have some effect. Audi-Sport seem to take a 'common sense' approach and have never challenged my intentions. By the same token I have on occasions pointer A2oc members in their direction - see example below.

''Hi hoprobin
As erstens indicated, our owners club only covers the A2 so you may be better off trying Audi-Sport.net which has a section for the A6 and Allroad models - http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/forumdisplay.php?f=21
From your description the 'shimmy' does not sound normal. Possible causes could be worn suspension parts or even a bad or unbalanced tyre - try changing the front tyres for the rears to see if this makes any difference.
Best of luck''

Cheers Spike

Other forums

As far as i'm concerned there is only one forum that is fair ,unbiased ,helpful, loads of info on all things A2 and seems to have all our interests at heart YOUR ON IT.If other forums spent more time looking towards its members and less time at potential revenue from its members then the above discussion would not be taking place.Had a look at the site skipton by the way ,what a load of mince.Adverts abound all over the place.People looking for advice and not getting any.If anything getting slated for their efforts.I can see why your IP was banned by the way i'd have banned you as well;).How can they promote their own community when there is a far superior one just a click away. It seems as though its all about self preservation on their part with the members interests being binned again .Anyone comparing both forums would be mad to go anywhere else but here.Sorry but just felt I had to say something.
