I've just read an article in "IT Now" about the future of technology in cars with interviews with 3 manufacturers: Audi, BMW and Volvo.
I attach the Audi one. Quite short but mentions the Audi ZFAS Computing System. I suppose this could be thought as the next generation convenience unit receiving all the sensor feeds and then providing functions such as self parking. Audi has demo'ed these before but the ZFAS has encapsulated all the electronics into a small box.
