Auto headlight conversion with coming home/ leaving home lights

Do the "coming home" function turn on the headlights, or the foglights ?
When you install it and don't change anything it works on the headlamps. But it can be changed via a sequence of on-off etc of the switch, so that it uses the fog lights. ( I will have to check the exact set up instructions but it can use either)

Hi Steve
looks like I'm a bit late getting in on this, but I would be interested.
I don't have front fogs (yet) though I am hoping to get some fitted soon.
I assume it's the same switch, with or without the front fogs?

Thanks

Hi Steve,

I would like one if I'm not to late.

Thanks!

Hi

nobody is too late.
I am ordering 15 to start with and it looks like they will be less than £25 each and delivery to me is one to two weeks. I will just have to add a minimal amount for postage to each of you that can't collect. It shouldn't be much.

Remember that the aim is to get the best price but also a quicker delivery is important.
One to two weeks is much better than the end of June / early july

So it is looking good!!!!

Hi

i have placed the order for 15 of these.

They worked out at £23.50 each which is probably the cheapest mod you can do to your A2 that provides a really useful function.

While they are on their way to me (they promised they would arrive within 1 to 2 weeks which is qicker than the current wuores of late June // early July) I will write some detailed installation instructions but it really is a simple DIY job requiring NO TOOLS !!!!!!

If iyou can collect or meet at a social etc then all you will have to pay is the £23.50 they cost me.
If I need to send them on to you then I will have to add the minimum costs of the P & P.

I will work through this thread and create a list of those that have expressed an interest in buying one of these and follow that sequence to decide who the first 15 are.

Please PM me with your address if you want it sent or let me know if you want to collect somehow.

Payments by PayPal "friends and family" please (which you all are anyway !!!!)

The first 15 will get these according to the interest expressed on here (providing they want to order one). One per person unless you have mentioned before now that you wanted two (maximum). If the interest is high for these I will place another order even before these arrive if necessary and multiples will be allowed then.

I will work out the P&P today.

Cheers

Hi Steve,

Do you have a picture of your switch installed in the car, im curious to see how it looks given that you need to cut out a larger hole than the original in the little light switch dash.

cheers

I never cut a hole, I prefer it to look as OEM as possible and I don't like lots of work.

So I just take off the icon ring that comes with it and it is a straight swap, no cutting needed.

The straight up position that used to be sidelights is now the new Auto position.
Since you probably never need to turn the switch it is fine as it is (to me)

Apart from the worn fascia, this looks fine to me. It sits a little deeper than the original but looks perfectly OK.

Annoyingly I just threw away a broken module as I figured the 'core' was unreplaceable! If I'd just waited I could have repaired it with this!

Can I just remind people that when I get these in I will be using this thread to identify who asked first etc. So if you want one of these Please add a note on here.

And if anyone has some really tatty headlight control modules with very worn indicator rings this may be a route to a new way to refurbish them.

But only if you want to do some cutting unfortunately.

The ring that comes with the kit is new but these are not separate on the A2 so if you want to use the ring that comes with it you need to do some cutting.

Interested as I hate the light buzzer on the old version

Same for me :)
Plus my version doesn't allow to use the foglights instead of the headlights for the coming home.

So Steve, please count me in, if the delivery to Belgium doesn't cancel the group buying saving...

Cheers,
Fabrice
