Hello Again,
So here’s the pictures of the assembly with the switch removed:
The light sensor diodes look pretty straightforward. Here’s the switches underside:
Looking from one side you’ll notice the thin plastic strip that keeps the switch onto its housing:
Now look at the other side:
You’ll notice the the same thin strip is missing. Unbeknown to me I have obviously damaged it when trying to separate the two parts.
It holds on perfectly with just the one side though. If I was going for a permanent fitting then a blob of silicon would hold it nicely whilst be able to eventually pull it apart again in the future.
There are a few issues with this item in the A2 though. Firstly is that once it’s together you’re unable to remove it from the dashboard as there is no room to push the switch in from the Off position to the Auto position to release the barbs that hold it in place.
Secondly and more worrying is the LEDs within the switch itself. Picture paints a thousand word:
Off position illuminates the LED indications
Auto position illuminations are also incorrect (there is no change to the below illuminations when I cover the switch to cause it to be dark enough for it to activate the lights)
The Sidelights position is as per above
More to follow on the next post as I’ve run out of tmroom for further pictures.
Kind regards,
Tom
