Bad screeching sound

Hi people

My car has developed a very nasty screeching sound. Sounds like a dying cat.

Im pressuming its my wheel bearing thats gone, as only occurs when in motion on the drivers side.

Is it safe to drive on it whilst its making this noise, as Im going to have to source a new one, get flange off the car and take to a garage to get it pressed in.

Any chance it could be a stone trapped between the brake disc and dust shield. If so, sometimes reversing may dislodge it.

Oooo, didnt think of that.

Will pop the wheel off and see. The noise is nasty.

I did reverse the car but it still did it.

That's happens quite often to me as the access road here is a dirt track.

I found that I have to revese and then go forward several times before I get it out sometimes.

Well done guys.

There was a nice cluster of stones / stone chippings stuck between the guard and disc.

Cant believe the noise it made though. Least it solved.
