These projects they never finish ?Thank you, it really is in factory state, but it will need a lot more work and love. The plan is to be finished by end of spring 2022. I can’t wait .

I bring back an old thread to ask if this one of stabilus could be compatible, as well.

@carlston , appreciated the time dedicated, for helping me.Stabilus 024335 (Audi A2)
Eject Force 370N
Length 513mm
Stroke 200mm
Stabilus 0825MV (VW Passat B3/B4 Estate 1988-1997)
Eject Force 500N
Length 514mm
Stroke 215mm
By using the VW Passat B3/B4 estate gas struts, the eject force would be about 35% too high.
Be careful with anything with extra force. A number of people have had issues with ‘uprated’ ’ struts warping their boot area or even breaking a hinge@carlston , appreciated the time dedicated, for helping me.
So, if I wasn't wrong the two struts linked, are good to have a right amount of nm and a better/more instead of the oem one..correct me.
Thanks
This was probably due to installing the springs for auto boot open.Be careful with anything with extra force. A number of people have had issues with ‘uprated’ ’ struts warping their boot area or even breaking a hinge
you scared me...Be careful with anything with extra force. A number of people have had issues with ‘uprated’ ’ struts warping their boot area or even breaking a hinge

well, to be honest the auto open, it's not my target neither. This was probably due to installing the springs for auto boot open. But yeah, this is also one aspect to take into account.
yes sure, though considering the small price, I am allowed to get it wrong ...
I do confirm that with 420Nm is already quite hard to close. Maybe with use, it will become lighter. Most of the 370N of force goes into supporting the weight of the tailgate.
By going to 500N struts you might find that the tailgate is multiple times harder to close, not just 35% harder.
Can't see why anyone would install anything other than OEM spec, (not necessarily OEM brand) . The ones on most of our cars have lasted 15 years, or more. So, by right buy once. I fitted SGS struts about 3 years back, just after I bought the A2. I don't expect to buy again.Of course, because struts are shot and do not give any support... With new struts, it will be different.
Anyway, your money, your decision. Though not always is stronger better. And I would expect that engineers in the design department are not stupid. I have learned my lesson and I am not affraid to admit, that I have done a mistake. You can learn on my mistake or on yours. Either way it will be a cheap lesson ...
