Brake Light Switch Problem

I've replaced the troublesome brake light switch with a part from GSF.
Only the 3rd brake light works, but not the brake lights in the lamps ??
Is this down to the part or bad fitting by me? I tried bending the metal tab that the rod pushes onto but still no joy.
A friend of mine who works for a part firm reckons the part I bought wont work as it needed to be a genuine Audi part ?
Can anyone shed some 'light' on it for me as the missus is driving round with no brake lights and she needs the car for work

The part I bought is by Hans Pries Topran of Germany : 109 011 756 or 1J0 945 511A

Thanks, Tony

I've generally found Topran parts to be very poor quality and have always favoured genuine parts.

However, if the top level brake light is working, then the switch is good, so it must be the bulbs.

I've come across this once before on a members A2 - both rear brake bulbs had gone together, although the filaments looked ok.

Take the bulbs out, change for new ones and see how you go.

Cheers,

Mike
