I removed the bonnet to check the position of the temp sender I am planning on replacing and noticed the top hose and alloy tube was hanging unsupported as the bracket holding it to the engine block had split in two. Fortunately its made of steel rather than alloy so a quick weld and paint resulted in a speedy repair
Given the rare need to remove the bonnet this could have gone unnoticed for some time perhaps with a loss of coolant over time if the hoses had split under the constant vibration and movement. Worth checking out if you've not looked under the bonnet recently.
The photo shows the welded bracket bolted back on.
