Bumping Noise from Air-Con

Hi,

Over the last few days the air-con has started to make a bumping noise every few seconds (every 4-5 seconds) I notice on the the engine RPM it has a very small fluctuations when it does it (about lets say 5-10 rpm) It doesn't make the bumping noise when you dont have the engine running and it does not make the noise when the air-con is off only when it is on. You can feel the effects of the bump through the handbrake.

Anyone know what it could be? does it need cleaning? are you supposed to re-gas these cars or not need to? It is cold enough but maybe it needs cleaning?

Hi richard

Its a long shot but the aircon compressor pulley could be at fault - see link for more info - http://www.a2oc.net/forum/showpost.php?p=77807&postcount=6

The aircon does need servicing / re-gassing every 3 or 4 years (Audi suggest every 2 years) If you suspect its faulty then have a diagnostic scan done first to check all the sensors etc are working correctly.

Cheers Spike
