Cam-belt and Water-pump labour charge

I was wondering how much would a specialist charge to fit both of these in?

I'm going to ring around a few places and didn't want to get ripped off, so thought if any users have bought there parts and got garages to fit both the Water-pump and Cam-belt in.

How much is too much and if its cheap should I be skeptical about the job??

The other week I was quoted £130 labour + parts (~£100) + VAT = £265 from a VAG independent specialist in Norfolk. I was quite happy with that, so I'll be booking it in next month.

Wherever you get it done, don't be tempted to supply your own parts.
Heaven forbid, if something goes wrong there will be no argument whether faulty parts were to blame (which would be your problem to sort out) or if it was down to the workmanship.

... I will be supplying my own parts as I know then they'll be coming from a dealer and at a decent price. OTOH, what spike says is true; they will try and wriggle out of anything.

Rates here were around 6 hours of labour at whatever your friendly dealer wants to charge (which for me would be nearly €90), which is why mine will be going to an independent.

Stafford Audi are still doing the all in price of £275. I know its a bit far from you but may be worth negotiation against the price locally. I tried it with Manchester Audi who informed me that their labour charge is more than this!

Needless to say I know where I am going - already had one done by Stafford with water pump ~£330 - top service!

Sorry, my price above was INCLUDING the parts. Labour will be couple of hundred quid in most places.
Agree with spike on getting the garage to source the bits.

Did it myself, not that bad, I'd say stafford audi chaps can do it in 2.5 hours, took me 6 hours ! Got belt tensioner and waterpump for @ £100, I had to make a 'tool' to tighten the belt tensioner, I'd do it again myself, however if you live near stafford audi or that garage in norfolk those prices seem good.
