Cast lower ball joint separation

Well that sucks but we'll see. I did it the way I presume any shop not having that VAG tool would. I'd have to wait 4 weeks for anything off ebay. so sometimes it's not an option to buy every prescribed special tool.

I used the 2 hammer method for years, long before ebay and affordable service tools were available and never had a ball joint failure attributed to that process. I did have a few black fingernails though.

Well done for the detailed and accurate write-up which may help other members tackle the job............ but for the price of 2 decent hammers it's still worth investing in the splitter RAB suggested
