Central Locking Switch Not Working

After hitting a curb at high speed, the driver seat airbag was deployed and popped out the button that switches the anti-theft alarm off (inside of driver door). All of the interior lights now stay on when the switches are in the middle (i.e not on or off) and the seat belt wont budge at all. What do i need to do to get the lights back to normal? The fuel cap button still works but the central locking doesn't. I heard a pop when this happened and saw smoke. What do you think this means?

Many thanks!

What this means is that you've activated an airbag, which in turn has activated the A2s crash system - this means that the doors will not lock and the interior lights will always be on - both features intended to help any rescuer get you out of the car after a crash.

The puff of smoke and bang were the airbag going off and it's likely that the seatbelt pre-tensioner has fired too, which is why you can't move the belt.

Repairs of this sort need to be done by a specialist workshop, so see AUdi or an independent specialist.

Cheers,

Mike
