Couple of issues... any ideas??

Hey,

My cambelt tensioner seems to have gone dodgey (bad times), so I thought it'd be a good time to get other problems sorted while the car's in the garage.

There's a couple that need sorting:

1. Fan speed only works on speed 4, I understand it's a faulty resistor, but not sure how to replace it.

2. Tempermental engine temperature gauge. It seems to show stone cold most of the time even when I've been driving for ages and every now and then shows normal. Is this a fault and can it affect fuel consumption if the engine uses the same sensor??

3. Loud knocking sound, suspected to be coming from the front suspension. Its not the springs. Would the anti-roll bar drops links perhaps be worn and are they a common problem??

Thanks

Ben

Hi Ben
The resistor fix only applies to cars without climate control. - More info here

The temp gauge problem is likely to be a faulty sender unit - more info here

Faulty droplinks tend to cause a rattle so the knocking noise is more likely to be the roll bar bushes - more info here - http://www.a2oc.net/forum/showthread.php?t=6341
