dash top cubby hole ?

Hi all,

Have looked in the archives but couldnt find anything. so.....

The square "cut out" on top of the dash ? is this an area that audi was going to fit one of those cubby holes as found in VW cars ? you can buy the cubby hole from vagparts for various cars has anybody looked into this ?

I'm not aware of anything fitting inside that space. I originally thought that is where the Sat-Nav would appear from. Also anything that would go there will have to be quite shallow as the air duct passes under it.
